Basic Hemp Cultivation Course – Plant Physiology

The course takes place inlimited number classes, with an approach that balances theory and practice. The content is structured to be accessible even to beginners, without taking anything for granted.

The teacher isFrancesco Didonna, founder of Figli dei Fiori Canapa & Co., a senior agribusiness consultant with direct experience in Italy, Europe, the United States, and Thailand. He has been working professionally in the sector since 2018, specializing in environmental control, post-harvest, and processing.

The course is created in collaboration withCanaPuglia, a leading company in Italian industrial hemp since 2011.

Course program:

• What is the hemp plant and its botanical origins?
• Families: Indica, Sativa, Ruderalis — differences and characteristics
• Outdoor, greenhouse, and controlled environment cultivation: a comparison of approaches
• Substrates and media: soil, coco, rockwool, hydroponics, aeroponics
• Key parameters: water pH, climate management, light
• Basic design of controlled environments: lighting and control systems
• Nutrition Basics: NPK and Microelements
• Introduction to genetics, optimal conditions and pathogen prevention
• Law 242/2016: what is permitted, varieties in the European catalogue

Hemp training only makes sense if the provider truly understands the industry. CanaPuglia has been operating across the entire supply chain since 2011—certified seeds, food, textiles, cosmetics, and biomaterials—and is among the longest-standing and most comprehensive training programs in Italy.

Do I need to have experience to participate in the Basic Course?
No. The course is specifically designed for beginners. No prior knowledge is required.

Is the course legal?
Yes. The training is for technical, informative, and cultural purposes and is conducted in full compliance with Law 242/2016. The content exclusively concerns hemp varieties registered in the European catalog.

How does booking work?

Can I take the course online?
Yes. The course is available in person at the CanaPuglia headquarters in Monopoli (BA) or online via Zoom, Skype, Teams, or Meet.

What do I get at the end?
A certificate of participation in the Basic Course.

Can I continue to the next levels?
Yes. The Basic Course is the first step in a progressive program. You can continue with the Intermediate Course and then the Professional Course, or purchase the Complete Course for €250.
